The Moons, Habits of a Lifetime.

Weller in France, alive and well in Cultura Books and Records store...

Had a cool stroll the other day at Cultura, local and middle sized Books and Records shop... What a surprise, Valérie Tomis, the boss for books and records wrote a recommendation for the Modfather and the Jam! "Discover Paul Weller, the Modftaher and the Jam, inspiration source for brit pop". Asewome!

Thanx Valérie. Mods bless you.

Miles Kane - Worldwide Exclusive Album Stream Of 'Don't Forget Who You Are'

This week's NME cover star (1 June) Miles Kane is leaving it raw for new album 'Don't Forget Who You Are'. Two years after solo debut 'Colour Of The Trap', Kane has streamlined his rock'n'roll assault and, with heavyweight support from mod forebear Paul Weller and producer/ex-Lightning Seed Ian Broudie, has come up with a record that shows off a tougher, rougher side.

Bowie is Magic! (from Gerry Leonard)

Miss Sharon Jones new LP artwork.

The Clash are back, complete BoxSet and many goodies...(Stef)

It will look like a big Ghetto Blaster!

This is a public service announcement...with guitars !
Aujourd'hui, Paul Simonon et Mick Jones doivent dévoiler sur le site internet officiel du groupe la parution prochaine d'un phénoménal coffret consacré au plus grand groupe anglais issus de la scène punk: The Clash
The Clash.jpg
To be continued here from Stephane C. Jonathan' s blog

The new Sharon Jones' single: Retreat. Listen it on NPR.

If this song had just the tubular bells at the top and then that Motown guitar riff, I'd have been hooked and happy. But then, along comes Sharon Jones, the brilliant, powerful soul singer, and the song explodes. "Retreat!" is the perfect marriage of singer, song and band. A lot has happened to Sharon Jones and Bushwick's brilliant professors of soul, the Dap-Kings, in the three years since they last recorded. They played the Apollo, the Hollywood Bowl, Sydney Opera House and SXSW. And they've just gotten stronger and stronger.

Give The People What They Want, their new album, is the product of those years of touring and then regrouping, writing and playing together. You can hear all that in this new single. This 11-piece big band recorded its fifth record at the Daptone House of Soul Studio. It's home and it's obviously where their heart is. The 10-song album will come out on Daptone Records on August 6, right in the heat of the summer. It should be just what we want right about then.

Femi Kuti, try it...

"'The World Is Changing' is groove with a message." That quote, a pretty good summary of the music of Femi Kuti in just nine words, comes from Juan Gélas, the creative director of a new video for Kuti's new song. Femi Kuti is a saxophonist, trumpeter, keyboard player and singer and songwriter. The son of legendary afrobeat musician Fela Kuti, he carries on the tradition of mixing Nigerian beats along with jazz and a healthy dose of politics. Juan Gélas says, "Femi Kuti continues to be a leading protest artist out of modern Africa and his voice talks to us all."
